Modern slavery statement

Introduction

This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes the slavery and human trafficking statement of The Works Family Limited (Company No. 08938969), trading as High Wycombe Escape Rooms, for the financial year ending 31 March 2026.

High Wycombe Escape Rooms operates immersive private escape room experiences in High Wycombe under licence from the Know Escape network. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships, and to implementing effective systems and controls to safeguard against modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains.

Our organisation and supply chains

The Works Family Limited operates High Wycombe Escape Rooms and Eat at The Works. Our guest-facing escape room operations and restaurant sit on High Wycombe High Street and are UK-based.

Our supply chains are relatively short and UK-focused. They principally include:

• Construction, fit-out, and maintenance contractors for game rooms and venues
• Prop, puzzle, and set suppliers
• Technology, software, and hosting providers
• Marketing, print, and merchandise suppliers
• Professional services (legal, accounting, insurance)
• Cleaning, waste, food, and facilities services at our venues

We recognise that risks of modern slavery can exist in any supply chain, particularly where labour is outsourced, seasonal, or subcontracted.

Our policies

We are committed to ensuring there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our business or supply chains. Relevant policies include:

• Employment policies requiring fair pay, lawful working hours, and right-to-work checks for all employees
• A whistleblowing culture encouraging staff and partners to report concerns without fear of retaliation
• Operating standards requiring compliance with UK employment law
• Procurement expectations that suppliers act ethically and lawfully

We will not tolerate forced labour, child labour, debt bondage, or human trafficking in any form.

Due diligence and risk assessment

We assess modern slavery risk by considering the nature of our suppliers, the countries in which they operate, and the type of labour involved. Because our guest-facing operations are based in the United Kingdom and our core team is directly employed or contracted under UK law, we consider our operational risk to be low.

Higher vigilance is applied where we engage contractors for venue build, maintenance, cleaning, or overseas manufacturing of physical props and materials. Before appointing significant suppliers, we seek confirmation of compliance with applicable labour laws and ethical standards.

We reserve the right to investigate credible concerns and to terminate relationships that breach our standards or the law.

Training and awareness

Managers and staff with responsibility for recruitment and procurement receive guidance on recognising indicators of modern slavery and knowing how to escalate concerns.

We continue to improve awareness so that everyone representing High Wycombe Escape Rooms understands that respect for human rights is fundamental to how we run our business.

Measuring effectiveness

We review the effectiveness of our approach by:

• Monitoring whistleblowing and HR reports for any related concerns
• Reviewing supplier compliance during onboarding and renewal
• Updating this statement annually and reporting progress to senior management

During the reporting period we received no reports of modern slavery or human trafficking within our operations or supply chains.
